Faith In Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley Gratitude Bracelet
Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley is a volunteer-powered organization providing free services to older adults in Kanawha and Putnam counties. Volunteers assist seniors with transportation to medical appointments, trips to the grocery store, friendly check-in phone calls, and minor home repairs and maintenance projects.
Funds raised through this Gratitude Campaign collaboration will go directly to support their efforts to establish new volunteer pipelines while strengthening their existing ones. Recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers is the most pressing business of their team. It's a vital mission to ensure that they can continue to lend a hand in older neighbors who need us, in ways both big and small.
Faith in Action has engaged more than 335 volunteers over the life of the program and has served over 900 older neighbors in our community. Our volunteers appreciate the flexibility they have in scheduling and the variety of meaningful ways to get involved. In turn, the seniors they serve value the dependable support and friendly, personal attention they receive through these connections.
The challenge? The need continues to grow and the volunteer support needs to keep pace.
Their private nonprofit was founded in 2014 to complement publicly funded programs. Their mission was not to compete with existing services, but to build an innovative solution to fill the gaps that are created when seniors cannot qualify for those programs based on income, geography, insurance, or other obstacles. With few exceptions, there are only two requirements to qualify as a Faith in Action care receiver: applicants must be aged 60 or over and live in Kanawha or Putnam counties.
Faith in Action is a fully local organization, dependent on local support. Their Board of Directors is comprised of outstanding leaders from all facets of life in our community. As a private nonprofit, they are funded through the generosity of individual donors, through grants from foundations, community organizations, and local businesses, and through proceeds from our annual signature fundraising event.
Since opening their doors, volunteers have performed 37,515 hours of service and have contributed a real value benefit of $1,138,355 to our community. They provide meaningful and reliable support for the independent living of older adults in the communities they serve by lending a helping hand, neighbor to neighbor.
$5 for every bracelet sold will be donated to Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley.
Construction: This bracelet is crafted from a single layer of our signature leather. Unlike our standard Morgan Rhea bracelets, it is not backed with a second layer; however, it is made from the same premium leather thickness and is designed for everyday wear.
